WOMEN IN SPORT SUMMIT COMING TO UTICA UNIVERSITY

Women in Sport Summit Being Presented April 5 in Conjunction with the April 3-14 2024 IIHF Women‘s World Championship in Utica, N.Y.

UTICA, N.Y. – Today is National Girls and Women in Sports Day and organizers for the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship announced the full agenda for its upcoming Women in Sport Summit. In conjunction with the April 3-14, 2024, 10-nation, international women’s ice hockey tournament and festival, the event will take place Friday, April 5, at 10 a.m. ET, in the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center on the Campus of Utica University.

Partnering with Utica University, the summit is free and open to all, including athletes from U12 through the collegiate level. It will feature a viewing of the documentary, “Keepers of the Game,” directed by Judd Ehrlich of the Salmon River High School girls lacrosse program. It will also unite a range of keynotes and panelists who will discuss strength & conditioning, nutrition, health & wellness and equity. The panelists include:

  • Judd Ehrlich, film director, “Keepers of the Game”

  • Angela Ruggiero, former USA Women’s Hockey four-time Olympian and 1998 Olympic gold medalist

  • Erin Hamlin, four-time Olympian, 2010 women’s singles luge Olympic bronze medalist and 2009 women’s singles luge world champion

  • London Hill, Syracuse University student-athlete and success specialist

  • Maggie McCrudden, United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) registered dietician

  • Sara Cahill, former Team USA Women’s Hockey strength & conditioning coach

 

“I’m thrilled to be a part of this exciting summit and this group of panelists,” said Hamlin. “Those in attendance will come away with inspiration and a new sense of awareness. I’m also excited for Utica as the host city to the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship. I encourage everyone to take part in all the tournament has to offer.”

Following the summit and Q&A session, lunch will be provided and all participants will receive free admission to attend the IIHF Women’s World Championship preliminary round game featuring Canada against Switzerland, at 3 p.m., at Utica’s Adirondack Bank Center.
